Charlie Lakin came on for the closing stages of the draw against Swansea on Friday. It was the 19-year-old’s first senior league appearance, with his previous two matches for the club coming in cup competitions.

The midfielder tweeted that he was delighted to make his home league debut for the club:

Fans on Twitter are hoping for more appearances from the teenager:

Supporters are delighted to see a young player getting his chance:

With Cheikh N’Doye’s departure, our lack of central midfield options could offer Lakin the perfect opportunity to stake a claim for a place in the side.

As one of the few central attacking midfielders in the squad, it should keep the youngster in contention for a starting place throughout the season.

He clearly impressed Garry Monk with his performances during pre-season, and it’s great to see young players coming through the ranks. Charlie will now be keen to get his first start for the club after getting his first taste of the Championship.
