Dan Scarr finally made his first-team debut last night in the 2-0 defeat to Reading. The defender started alongside Marc Roberts in the centre of defence as Garry Monk made wholesale changes for the Carabao Cup tie.
After the match, the 23-year-old expressed his delight on Twitter on being given the opportunity to start:
Over the moon to get my debut for my home club @BCFC last night! Disappointed with the result, but we look forward to getting back in league action Friday and setting it right! Great to be on the pitch and hear KRO being sang! Fans were amazing. One I’ll always remember#KRO pic.twitter.com/G8naeQxKcl

Fans on Twitter were almost all happy with the centre-back’s performance despite the loss at the Madejski Stadium:
Congratulations hopefully the first of many appearances. #KRO

Congratulations Dan, been a long time coming. Bit different to Stourbridge Town. Hope there’s many more games to come.

The defeat was disappointing but not that surprising considering the number of changes that were made. Due to the transfer embargo issues, we don’t have a lot of depth in the squad, and the manager was right after the game when he said our focus must be on the league only.
Scarr did pretty well in what was very much a baptism of fire. Baldock and Meite were a handful with the latter getting ahead of the defender for the opening goal. It will have been a learning experience for the player if nothing else.
