Henri Lansbury would be a signing of intent

Henri Lansbury is a name that I thought Birmingham City would never be linked with but yesterday it emerged that the club were looking into the possibility of bringing the Nottingham Forest captain to the club in a cut price deal.

Although this is a deal that I am sure most Blues fans would love to see the club pull off, I don’t think it will happen because from what I have seen, the former Arsenal youngster has the qualities to play in the Premier League.

And with the deal being significantly shortened in price (no price has been mentioned I may add), it is certain that he will attract the interests of several other clubs, not just Blues.

Premier League and Championship clubs will be queuing up in the race to sign the 26-year-old but the new Birmingham City board have promised that they will back Gianfranco Zola in whatever way he needs.

A move for Lansbury doesn’t seem likely, as I mentioned earlier, but should a move materialise, the dynamic midfielder would, in my opinion, prove to be a fantastic piece of business.

He is known as a goal scoring midfielder who can play in the central attacking midfield role, as well just the plain old central midfield role, and despite Blues have quite a few options in the middle of the park, I believe that Lansbury would shoot right to the front of the pack.

Alongside both Maikel Kieftenbeld and David Davis, I believe that Blues would have one of the strongest midfields in the Championship. We would have a complete balance of players who can score goals, sit in front of the back four and crunch into tackles which in the Championship is a winning formula.

For me, Lansbury would be a clear signing of intent and if the club can pull off what would be a superb coup then I think other teams in the Championship will begin to take us seriously as play-off contenders.

Blues fans, would you like to see the club sign Henri Lansbury in January? Let us know in the comment section down below!
