“Hell of a player”: Journalist gives latest Birmingham City signing his seal of approval

|

So, it looks like I’m not the only one that is impressed by what I’ve seen.

I spoke yesterday about how excited I was at Birmingham City’s new signing Mikel San Jose, and the kind of impact he could have on the squad. And it seems as if we’re getting admirers from outside the club as well.

Speaking on social media after the announcement, journalist Alan Nixon felt that we had picked up an incredibly talented player, with one slight caveat attached to it:

Blues will sign ____ more players this window?

No

1-2

3+

Now whilst mentioning he was good ‘at his peak’ might seem like cause for concern seeing as he’s 31 years old, in fairness we don’t really need him to be that at a La Liga level to be effective for us. If he’s 75% of the player that he’s been in the past (that’s worst-case scenario seeing as he’s only 31), then I think we’ve still got an excellent Championship level player on our hands.

What about you? What do you make of this signing?

The signings that have been made I’ve been quality I can’t see us struggling in the bottom half of the table this season. A top 10 finish is the minimum in my opinion with the players we have. But I think the top six is the goal set by the club. But I very much doubt AK Job would be in jeopardy if we missed that because it’s a building process. We have amazing depth in this team now. I for one I’m looking forward to the rest of the season. A pity we can’t be there in person to witness a new revelation. KRO

Just cannot fathom this fetish with Spanish players as virtually none signed by Clotet made the grade. More likely success with Scandinavian/German or Dutch players – more similar to UK than La Liga.
    No more Jota’s please!!
