‘Head and shoulders above his peers’ – Blues fans love their new midfielder

|

Croatian midfielder Ivan Sunjic has certainly hit the ground running since his summer move to the Blues, quickly becoming a firm fans favourite and an integral part of the team.

22-year-old Sunjic arrived from Croatian champions Dinamo Zagreb in the close season for a reported fee of €7m and has played every Championship game for City since coming on as a late substitute in the opening day win at Brentford.

Sunjic is an all-round midfield player, physically competent, technically and tactically savvy and seems very capable of coping with the relentless rigours of Championship football. The Croat, who has made one senior appearance for his national team, also looks able to strike from distance – something he proved in the recent defeat at Derby County.

Understandably, having made such an instant, positive impact on their side, City fans have been across Twitter in their effusive praise for the new midfield talisman. Here’s what’s been said:

Many Birmingham fans used one word superlatives in praise of the new man, while some feel he is of a much higher standard than the players around him.

Sunjic has drawn praise from Blues fans consistently over recent weeks, with some fans even comparing their new midfield maestro to God!
