He splits opinion – 51% Of Fans Polled Don’t See Scottish Star As A Good Fit For Birmingham

|

Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Barry Bannan has just one year left on his contract at Hillsborough, but the Scottish international says he is keen to stay put and earn a new deal.

Both us and Middlesbrough have reportedly been interested in the 28-year-old this summer with local newspaper the Star suggesting that we have been tracking the playmaker.

When I polled supporters about whether Bannan would have been welcomed to St Andrew’s, opinions were very much split down the middle:

The player’s most recent comments would have prompted us to move on to different targets anyway, if not much earlier. Reports have indicated a move for Brighton’s Oli Norwood could be on the cards.

Hopefully, we make a move for a creative central midfielder before the window shuts. We have very similar styles of player like Kieftenbeld, Gardner and N’Doye in the middle of the park, and with David Davis’s injury, there is no doubting that we need to strengthen in that area.
