“He has immense confidence”- Clotet singles out one man for praise after impressive run of form

|

This season may go down as one of the more memorable ones in Birmingham City’s recent history.

With the very inconsistent form shown on the pitch, the mess that went on regarding Pep Clotet and his job as ‘interim head coach’, the spat with former boss Garry Monk and the financial issues that came out of nowhere to really put a dark cloud over things.

However, one really bright spark throughout the whole thing has been the form of Jeremie Bela.

And Clotet is more than aware of the impact he has made. Speaking in his press conference ahead of tonight’s game with Bristol City, the Spaniard took time to praise his efforts so far this campaign, and talked about what he can offer in the future:

“Jeremie Bela is a player that since he came in, all facts are being backed by his appearances, he is becoming a very important player. He came from a different country and has adapted very well, he has immense confidence in himself and in the team. He is a very good player, that we knew could make an instant impact for us.”

Ever since he arrived at the club back in November, his form has been nothing short of spectacular, chipping in with three goals and five assists in all competitions, taking to the division a lot quicker than someone like Fran Villalba did for instance.

Whilst there may be more high-profile players that will attract attention from teams in the summer, Jude Bellingham being one of them I feel like Bela could be another one of them if he carries on the way that he has. Given the stature of Birmingham City, bigger clubs are never going to be too far away to take our players.

Whilst he isn’t the main player in the team, I do feel that he is certainly someone that the Blues should be looking at keeping at all costs. If he can keep up this level of production next season, after he’s a little bit more time to get adjusted, you could make the argument that he’s a player you can build a team around.

Is Bela our most important player?

Yes

No

If we can keep hold of him that is.
