Blues Defender Jonathan Grounds has today penned a brand new deal with the club which will keep him at St Andrews until June 2017 with a further years option.

Grounds was a key player in last seasons Blues team which finished in 10th place, he missed just one game throughout the whole of last season campaign, that being a 4-0 loss to Wigan Athletic.

This deal shows that manager Gary Rowett and fellow players such as Dimi Gray,Paul Caddis and Clayton Donaldson feel that Blues can really kick on in the coming season and reach the ultimate goal of the Premier league, keeping key players such as Grounds really does signify the intent of the club at this current time.

For me, Grounds was our player of the season last year, ever since Gary Rowett took over, Grounds’s game took off and he has truly earn’t his contract extension leaving Mitch Hancox’s Blues future very much in doubt.

What do you feel about Grounds as a player?
Is he capable of helping us towards a Premier league return?
