Groundhog day for Birmingham

Here we go again. It’s Friday and that?s the day that Blues tell us that the players who were going to be fit actually aren?t, there are two more doubts and tomorrow there will be at least one unexplainable absentee.

This has gone on for weeks and weeks. Dunn is rested, then there is no problem and then he doesn?t play because he picked up a knock in training which is not related to the injury that made him miss nearly 2 seasons out of three.

Upson has a groin strain that will keep him out for a fortnight that magically turns into him requiring a hip replacement just when his contract is up and Reading is interested. Two games become 10, so far.

In December we were told that everything would be done to get us out of the mess that we were in then. Because of Heskey?s broken toe nail or some feeble excuse the policy changed from that to we will spend nothing. Rather we will make a few bob by dumping a Uruguayan international who we should never have paid money for but lost 2 million in 4 months and replace him with a southern league player and an old man who has a dubious past and is now likely just to add to the dammed injury list.

Blues should have brought in eight new players in January and still would not have covered the absentees. Blues are down and will be embarrassed between now and season?s end. Some team will come under Albion?s record points total (34) and still stay up. In other words in a season when it is the easiest ever to stay up we will go down.

Tomorrow?s game is a one of a pair of home games before the AGM on Wednesday. Our last straw will be that game in hand which will evaporate as did our home game against Albion. We had pencilled that in, as 3 certain points.

Chelsea would be hard pressed to find an XI on their staff to lose to us tomorrow. This is a desperate time at St Andrews. David Sullivan says that he doesn?t like footballers and who could blame him. Maybe the ones he has paid money for have clouded his opinion.
