‘Great Mentor,” ‘Give him a job’ – Supporters Delighted By Plans To Keep Birmingham Veteran

Paul Robinson has given the biggest indication yet that he will be staying with the Blues in a coaching capacity.

Speaking to BBC WM, the former defender stated it would make sense for him to stay at St Andrews:

“I’ve no intention of leaving. The perfect fit for me would be to stay. I’m keen to be part of the backroom staff pushing this club back in the right direction.”

Robbo retired from playing following the final game of the season against Fulham on Sunday.

On Twitter, fans are hoping that the 39-year-old stays for the foreseeable future, and offers his wisdom to the younger players:

Verdict:

It’s good to hear that the defender is keen on remaining with us for the long-term. He will no doubt have a wealth of experience to call upon which the club should look to tap into.

Garry Monk has already confirmed talks between the club and Robinson so hopefully, we can sign him up as a coach as soon as possible. He’d probably start out with the youngsters, and with his 22 years as a player, his knowledge will likely make him a perfect mentor.
