Here’s another one for the nostalgia books.
Yesterday marked the anniversary of Birmingham signing Mikael Forssell on loan from Chelsea back in 2003.
The 2003-04 season was the first season where Chelsea were funded by Roman Abramovich’s millions and given the number of signings they made, the Finnish international found playing time at Stamford Bridge hard to come by.
Lucky for the Blues as they certainly profited from Chelsea’s moves when they grabbed him for the year, and what a year it was. Forssell scored 17 goals in the Premier League that season placing him 5th in the goal-scoring charts.
So when @BirminghamFanTV decided to send out a tweet marking the anniversary of the day he signed, they were swamped with fans who wanted to talk about how great he was for them. And when they remembered his time at St Andrew’s, it seemed as if there was only one message from the fans.
We literally need him now more than ever

I mean, if the likes of Teddy Sheringham can keep playing into their 40’s, then there’s nothing to stop Forssell coming back at the age of 38. Does anyone have his number?
