Demarai Gray has signed a new three-year contract at Birmingham City. The 19 year-old winger has put pen-to-paper on a deal which keeps him at St. Andrew`s until 2018.

A source close to the club told Vital Birmingham ‘Retaining Gray`s services is a statement of intent from the club and Gary Rowett`.
The club have been trying to tie Gray down to a new deal for weeks with the player asking for assurances of the direction of the club. Signing the deal indicates that Gray is happy with the talks and the club`s plans for the future.

The news is a sign of how far the club has moved on since the arrival of club director Panos Pavlakis. Bids for the teenage prodigy were turned down in January – with Bournemouth reportedly offering in the region of £6m.

The revolving exit door at St. Andrew`s is hopefully a thing of the past as the club now shows evidence of being able to hold on to their best players despite predators sniffing around.
