Birmingham City’s Demarai Gray shone bright in his England U19’s substitute appearance during a 1-1 draw with Germany.

Gray came on in the 59th minute and played wide right in a 4-3-3 formation.

The young Blues winger won a penalty for England and also set up a promising opportunity to win it right at the end of the game. England were unable to take the chances Gray earned and the game ended in a draw.

The winger has had an impressive pre season and bright start to his Birmingham season this year. With Premier League teams like Crystal Palace showing interest in him.

It is at Birmingham where is development is set to to continue though. His form at current could be just what Birmingham need as they try to beat teams with their pace and power.

The player is still remarkably young and there is a long way to go before he plays at a higher international level. But it is already happening for him at Championship level as Lee Clark finds it harder and harder to overlook the young star.

Gray could go into the team to face Leeds, at home, this Saturday. Birmingham could go for an attacking 4-4-2 with Cotterill and Gray on each wing.
