Sheffield Wednesday manager Stuart Gray was delighted with his side after they thrashed Birmingham City 4-1 on Saturday.

The home side did not mess about at the start of the game and found themselves two goals up by the half time break thanks to goals from Caolan Lavery and Leon Best.

And it got no better for the visitors to Hillsborough in the second half when an own goal from Blues Will Packwood made it 3-0 and then Lavery struck again with another stunning strike to make it 4-0.

Blues had a bit of a mini fightback late on, but the goal from Lee Novak was nothing more than a consolation.

Gray said: ‘It was up there with the Leeds performance (when Wednesday won 6-0) in my opinion. I said to the players before they went out that they needed to get their tackles in, crosses in, shots in, and that’s exactly what they did.

‘I don’t think they threatened all game to be quite honest. They got one back at the end which was a little disappointing, but I just wish it could have been 4-0 for the sake of the players.’
