What a way to come crashing back down to earth.
After the glorious high that was Friday night and the arrival of Ivan Sunjic, things didn’t go quite so well the next day. Birmingham City found themselves on the wrong end of a 4-0 scoreline against Brighton & Hove Albion in their final pre-season friendly before facing Brentford on Saturday.
Speaking after the Blues’ disappointing display, boss Pep Clotet’s main focus was on two areas; the team’s performances both on the day and during the summer as a whole and how he intends to attack the remaining days of the transfer market.
“We were having a good preseason and good results, and the fact we got that result doesn’t leave us in a good place, but it was a very good test.”
“The squad is still a little bit thin, and it’s important to use those final days in the window to try to strengthen and bring the targets that we identified.”
The reaction to those comments were, let’s just say, mixed. Whilst some got the sense that something positive was brewing at the club, there were also those who maintained that something positive could only be achieved if the board pulled their finger out in the last few days of the transfer window.
Good vibes Gaffa ????????????????

His got a good vibe around him. I’m happy with that. Plus a few more signings ????can’t remember the days were blues signed this many players. I think the first few games would be hard. Getting the players to gel but after that. This could be a good season ????????

Jury’s out, and will be for a month.
Then …………………(fingers crossed)

Absolutely right… not only were they nearly relegated, they also have Potter as manager who did nothing with Swansea last season. Very disappointing result today.

I fear you might be having a re-run of this interview plenty of times this season

Let’s judge Pep after 12-15 league games not friendlies. Lots of things to put right and players not in the starting 11 wanting to prove a point!

Would rather it happened now than next week when it’s too late. Reminder we’re still short of a forward, a back up CM, a CB and arguably a keeper. Crowley and Sunjic are definite class but work to be done

Still a little thin? If you hold it up to light, you can see right through it. We’ve got a week, and we need three to four more. Make it happen.
