Good Addition – 58% Of Birmingham Fans Polled Would Back Sizeable Offer For 5ft 10 Forward

|

Sheffield United have reportedly bid £5m for Martyn Waghorn, and with us seeking a new striker, I thought I’d asked fans whether we should challenge the Blades for the 28-year-old.

The majority of those polled felt we should try and make a move for the Ipswich striker, even with the reported embargo in place:

Since I published the poll, Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder has distanced himself from reports linking his team with a move for Waghorn.

He told a local radio station that Ipswich rate the 5ft 10 forward at “£8m to £10m,” which led to the Blades ruling themselves out of the running.

If that is indeed the price tag then I don’t think we’ll be interested in him either. Prices in the Championship are reaching pretty eye-watering figures.

Waghorn’s 16 goals last season demonstrate he is a very good player at this level, but there’s no way a club would consider matching his asking price.
