Stephen Gleeson has spoken of his joy for the fans after the Club went second in the Championship. He insists there is no pressure in the changing room and the players are keeping their feet on the ground.

“But it`s great for the fans because it`s been a tough few years.

“Hopefully in six months time or thereabouts we can have a right good go towards the end of the season but for now we`re just keeping our feet on the ground.”

Birmingham are very much a surprise package at the moment. Being difficult to beat has allowed the to go head to head with some of the biggest teams in the league and get the result. Following on from that they now find themselves in amongst those bigger teams.

I would be the first to point out there is still a very long way to go. This time last year, Rowett was only just coming in to save us from the depth of despair. But he’s been picking these results up ever since he came into the club and the time to believe is surely creeping up on us.

So the times ahead may be difficult, but for a whole different reason and we can go into them with much more ambition that previous years. Blues are already developing their style of play and this organic development into a top tier Championship club may well be here for the season.

Gleeson continued, talking to bcfc.com “I think we`re getting better each game but now we have a massive test on Saturday to really test ourselves against a team that has come down from the Premier League,”
