Birmingham City travel to Huddersfield this weekend and providing there are no late changes, the referee for that game will be Gavin Ward.

The Surrey based official last took charge of a game involving City on September 1st last year when Peterborough were the visitors to St Andrews. Blues won the game 1-0 with a goal from Wade Elliott and four players were shown yellow cards including David Murphy, Paul Caddis and Peter Lovenkrands.

Ward went on to take charge of 37 games that season showing 131 yellow cards and 11 reds.

This season Ward is well on his way to hitting the same sort of figures, he has been in charge of 12 games and already has shown 32 yellows and three red.

Assisting Ward on Saturday will be Mark Astley and Nick Greenhalgh while the fourth official will be Philip Dermott.
