Just take a minute Birmingham City fans…sit back…relax…and realise just how good a place we are in at this moment in time. What a performance Saturday was! It was one that echoed the win against Norwich City superbly and long may it continue.

But ask yourself this, why have Blues all of a sudden found their rhythm? Well it’s simple really. Gary Rowett has clearly hit the right note with a lot of his players and he has managed to work out a system that allows the side to enjoy the game both with and without the ball.

It all starts from the back and works its way forward when you stand back and look at it.

So, with that being the case, lets take a look at it from back to front.

Goalkeeper Tomasz Kuszczak has kept three clean sheets so far this season meaning that Blues are joint top of that chart along with Derby County, Brighton and Hove Albion, Queens Park Rangers, Brentford and Newcastle United.

The former Manchester United shot stopper has been in fine form since the start of the season and it is fair to say that some of the saves that he has pulled off so far have been outstanding.

At the back, Blues have been unreal so far this season, which was again highlighted against Fulham with players throwing themselves in the way of shots.

With Michael Morrison and Ryan Shotton both singing from the same hymn sheet then over the course of the season, I can’t really see us going wrong there, unless one of them picks up an injury, and it is quite clear to most Blues fans that Rowett picked the club up a bargain in Shotton.

In midfield, Rowett again seems to have found the right balance of defensive players who also know when to push forward and all three of them who have played in the last two games can all certainly chip in with a goal every now and then.

David Davis is currently our second top goal scorer with two goals to his name which signifies just how much he has come on this season for the club and in all fairness, it is great to see him doing so well for us.

Next to Davis, Maikel Kieftenbeld and Robert Tesche have been pulling the strings and although Stephen Gleeson hasn’t really done anything wrong, he will certainly find it difficult to get back into the side, especially with youngster Reece Brown chomping at the bit to get some game time as well.

Moving further up the pitch, the introduction of Che Adams has most definitely livened things up for Blues and it is clear for all to see that his partnership with Clayton Donaldson is beginning to blossom quite nicely…if only Donaldson was a few years younger!

Left winger Jacques Maghoma has been the clubs stand out player for me so far this season and it is always encouraging to see a player willing to use both feet in order to make themselves less predictable.

Maghoma has certainly been putting in the extra work and it is paying off which is what everybody wants to see. Although there isn’t massive competition for him, I think having more wingers at the club has helped him improve his game.

Overall, what Rowett is doing behind the scenes if working wonders because the performances are starting to come together but Blues have to remember, the Championship is a marathon and not a sprint so we need to keep ourselves ticking over quietly in the background.

Blues fans, do you agree that whatever Gary Rowett is doing on the training ground is all starting to fall into place? Let is know in the comment section down below!
