Garry Monk set to raid former club for exciting winger

|

Birmingham City are reportedly interested in signing Middlesbrough winger Marvin Johnson, according to Birmingham Mail reporter Brian Dick.

The 27-year-old signed for the Riverside outfit last summer for a reported fee of £2.5 million but is now believed to be surplus requirements with current manager Tony Pulis shaping up to have a real good go at promotion next season.

Despite scoring on his debut for Boro, Johnson failed to live up to his potential and his former side Oxford United even offered to take him back on loan in January to take him off the books at Middlesbrough.

However, he could now well be given another chance to impress at this level with Blues. Having started his career off as a trainee for Solihull Moors, the winger knows the area well, being from Birmingham as well, so a move to the second city may well be something that appeals to him.

If Monk can act quickly to get this deal over the line, with Middlesbrough looking for a quick sale, then it could prove to be a great piece of business for the club.
