Chris Hughton admitted that his side were well below par after they went down 3-1 at Leicester City last night.

Blues were looking good a couple of weeks ago, they were in the play off places and had a good home run of results going for them.

But since falling to a home defeat against Nottingham Forest, Hughton just can`t seem to get his side to play in the manor which they did on their rise to the top part of the table.

Two points from the last four games has sent Blues down the table once again and despite getting off to a bright start at Leicester last night, they soon fell apart as soon as the equaliser went in.

They had the lead through Wade Elliott’s 20th minute penalty against the Foxes, but were poor in a second-half dominated by the hosts.

Houghton told reporters “It was very disappointing.

“We perhaps needed to get to that half-time stage without conceding.

“We were up against a team who are pushing, they need to put a run together.

“I thought they were very offensive, they threw a lot of bodies forward and for a good periods defensively we coped quite well.

“But we didn`t do enough with the ball ourselves and we conceded goals at bad moments – and poor goals, by our standards.

“Second-half, we showed spirit when we were 2-1 down and trying to get back into the game.

“But we never had good enough control of the ball.

“And probably a couple of aspects where we have been good is as a very solid unit, we have been able to defend well as a unit, and we keep good retention of the ball. But we didn`t do either of those things well enough to win the game, or get something out of the game.”
