Birmingham City have announced today (July 5th) that former Swansea City defender Dwight Tiendalli is on trail with the club whilst they are in Spain for their warm-weather training camp.

Blues boss Gary Rowett confirmed that the 30-year-old full back was initially supposed to join up with the squad when they returned back to England next week but with a view of a permanent contract at the end of his trail, the Dutch defender was invited out to Spain with the rest of the first team squad.

On Monday evening, speculation grew around the ‘mystery man’ that had been photographed training with the rest of the squad and with it now being confirmed as the ex-Swans man, we will just have to wait and see how he impresses Rowett.

It is believed that Tiendalli has been working on his fitness since the end of the season in view of gaining a permanent contract with a club, and with Blues in the market for a full back, there is nothing stopping either party now.

The former FC Twente defender can play both right and left back, versatility which is sure to impress Rowett, and should he prove his fitness to the staff at the club, his services could be something that the club look at. Should he be signed, Tiendalli would become the clubs third signing of the summer following the arrivals of Robert Tesche and Ryan Shotton.
