Reports are surfacing in Wales that former Swansea City boss Garry Monk is the front-runner for the Derby County job.

According to the South Wales Evening Post, Monk is now the favoured man for the job, but a move would be most likely at the end of the season.

However, the Rams hierarchy could move for the 36 year old before the end of the season in order to save their play-off hopes.

In recent weeks, Derby have slumped in a poor run of results which has seen them lose against the likes of MK Dons and the Blues of course and after just eight months in charge, Paul Clement was relieved of his duties.

Just days after Clement’s departure from the Est Midlands side, they were linked with a move for Birmingham City boss Gary Rowett, a rumour which had many Blues fans worried, but it now looks as though Blues, who are mounting their own play-off charge, have kept hold of their man.

The rumours of clubs looking at Rowett will never go away but like we highlighted earlier today, sides who are looking at Rowett is simply just a compliment to how well he is doing here.

Blues fans, how happy will you be if Garry Monk does join Derby County? How important is it that Gary Rowett stays at Birmingham City beyond the end of the 2015/2016 campaign? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section down below!
