Birmingham City are expected to announced their first signing of the summer over the course of the next week, with former loanee Robert Tesche signing on a free transfer.

Online blogger and Birmingham Mail writer Shane Ireland, who will be joining the Vital Birmingham co-editor team in the summer, announced yesterday on newshub in an exclusive that Tesche would be returning to the club within the week.

Unlike other reports suggesting players were going to be joining the club ‘within 10 days’, Shane’s knowledge from his source is that there is a deal being done and it is only a matter of time before the German midfielder is announced as a Blues player.

Last summer, Blues boss Gary Rowett spent a lot of time and effort trying to bring Tesche back to the club with the midfielder making a huge impact during his loan spell but his long and strenuous efforts fell short with Forest knocking him back several times.

However, Rowett now looks set to finally get his man and on a free transfer, Tesche will add fantastic depth to the Birmingham City midfield and competition for places will be tougher than ever.
