According to an exclusive in the Birmingham Mail online, Blues boss Gary Rowett is reportedly weighing up the possibility of bringing former Aston Villa defender Kieran Richardson to St.Andrews.

As it stands, the 31-year-old left back is without a club after he was released following Villa’s laughable relegation to the second tier of English football, and with Rowett looking for competition at left back, Richardson is thought to be of interest to him.

The Birmingham City squad are currently training out in Marbella, Spain, and have a full back on trial by the name of Dwight Tiendalli, formerly of Swansea City, so it could come down to who Rowett thinks would fit the bill better out of the two players because it doesn’t look like he would be able to afford to bring the pair in.

Along with Richardson, the Birmingham Mail also understand that Rowett is looking at other options but they never revealed who those other options were. One player Blues were thought to have missed out on was Tommy Spurr who joined Preston North End shortly after theclub made contact with him.

Blues fans, do you think Kieran Richardson would be a good option for Gary Rowett to have next season? Or do you think Dwight Tiendalli stands out more? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section down below!
