Forgotten Birmingham City defender set for summer departure

|

Forgotten Birmingham City defender Cheick Keita is reportedly attracting interest from clubs in Spain and Italy according to the Birmingham Mail.

The 21-year-old left-back spent the 2017/18 season on loan to Italian side Bologna where he made just three appearances following an injury he picked up in his only game under former manager Harry Redknapp back in August 2017, a game which Blues would go on to lose 1-0 away at Ipswich Town.

And after a turbulent time overseas with the Italian side, Blues fans were hoping that the exciting young full-back would be given a chance to impress new boss Garry Monk but it looks as though he has already made his mind up on the £2 million signing already.

The Birmingham Mail state that whilst there is interest from Spain and Italy, the clubs who are interested in him remain unnamed and it isn’t yet known whether his former loan side Bologna are back in for him.

The news of Keita’s potential departure comes in the week that Blues are hoping to make their first signing of the summer after formalities were ironed out in the deal that is likely to bring Union Berlin defender Kristian Pedersen to the club.

Blues fans, do you think Garry Monk is doing the right thing by putting Cheick Keita up for sale? Let us know in the comment section down below!
