Forgotten Birmingham City defender Cheick Keita is reportedly attracting interest from clubs in Spain and Italy according to the Birmingham Mail.

The 21-year-old left-back spent the 2017/18 season on loan to Italian side Bologna where he made just three appearances following an injury he picked up in his only game under former manager Harry Redknapp back in August 2017, a game which Blues would go on to lose 1-0 away at Ipswich Town.

And after a turbulent time overseas with the Italian side, Blues fans were hoping that the exciting young full-back would be given a chance to impress new boss Garry Monk but it looks as though he has already made his mind up on the £2 million signing already.

The Birmingham Mail state that whilst there is interest from Spain and Italy, the clubs who are interested in him remain unnamed and it isn’t yet known whether his former loan side Bologna are back in for him.

The news of Keita’s potential departure comes in the week that Blues are hoping to make their first signing of the summer after formalities were ironed out in the deal that is likely to bring Union Berlin defender Kristian Pedersen to the club.

Blues fans, do you think Garry Monk is doing the right thing by putting Cheick Keita up for sale? Let us know in the comment section down below!

  • Listen it’s football you can’t please every fan because keita is popular and Ty he fact that pederson can play left back and left wing is obviously appealing we have to trust monk

  • SPOT ON Damian !!!
    Trust in Garry!!!
Kiete probably won’t be the only one that other clubs may want.
It’s up to wether Garry Monk rates him or not, and if he’s committed to us.
Monks said he only wants players who’re 100% committed.
Hopefully it’ll allow Monk to sell the players he doesn’t see having a future with us.

  • Also for how skilful he was lets not forget he was part of the team that managed just 2 wins in 25 that season

  • This reminds me of Steve Bruce getting rid of Andrew Johnson. Keita is only young with great pace and skill. At least give him a chance to stake a place. I think we will live to regret this when he goes for a big money move in a few years time.

  • Ijaz might be right but we live in the present. Loaned out players are that because they aren’t good enough to get in our team. A team that is not much good it has to be said. Three games away hardly proves other wise. Fabbrini, Tesch, and Keita will now be being paid by us for doing nothing. First priority to get these off the payroll. In the time I have written this £100 has gone out the door.
