The Football League have confirmed that they are satisfied with the financial situation at Birmingham City. Reports had suggested that the club were losing too much and would fall fould of financial fair play rules.

The rules state that a club cannot lose more than £8 million in a single season without facing sanctions from the league.

Birmingham have denied that they are in a financial position that does not comply with the financial fair play rules. The Football League have also confirmed that they are not in breach of the rules.

The club branded the reports as ‘pure guesswork’.

Meanwhile Birmingham will seek to bounce back from their first league defeat under Gary Rowett, since he took charge. Birmingham, without a transfer embargo, will face Reading on Saturday.
