Five-a-side: Best of both! Nottingham Forest

Birmingham City head back into the Sky Bet Championship on Tuesday night as they face a tricky away trip to Nottingham Forest.

Dougie Freedman’s are currently 14th in the league and they have a good home record with his side registering six wins in all competitions at the City Ground this season.

Gary Rowett’s men enjoyed making the trip to the East Midlands side last season with Blues winning the fixture 3-1 in front of the Sky Sports cameras.

This game will once again prove to be a tough test for Blues but with several changes being made to Saturday’s side that took on Premier League team AFC Bournemouth, I think we might go there and snatch a win.

Forest have some very good players in their squad and it has been another tough five-a-side team to pick this week but I feel as though I have come up with the best team.

Down below are the five players that I have picked this week as well as why I have put them in the side.

GK: Tomasz Kuszczak.

The former Manchester United keeper has kept five clean sheets on the road this season and his form has started to pick up a little.

Compared to Forest shot stopper Dorus De Vries, who has kept just four clean sheets at home in all competitions so far this season, Kuszczak seems like the far better keeper and for that reason he needed to be in my side.

DF: Matt Mills.

Lets be honest, there was only really one choice for defence this week. Yes I could have picked Michael Morrison again because he scored at the weekend by Mills has four goals already this season and he is a real talent.

The 29 year old defender is having a fantastic season and he has been at the heart of the Forest defence for the majority of the season.

Mills is a very well travelled centre back and his experience and aerial threat is something that Blues really need to be careful of and for that reason Mills needed to make the team this week.

MF: Jamie Ward and Henri Lansbury.

Ward is a player that everybody would like to have in their teams for his work rate and determination, but his goal scoring is what lets him down.

However, his ability to create chances for other players in the team is why I have put him in this weeks side.

When he played against us earlier in the season he was unstoppable and if he hadn’t gone off with an injury I am sure we would have lost by more than one goal at St.Andrews.

Next to Ward I have put Lansbury, but he won’t be fit to play against Rowett’s side on Tuesday night, which isn’t actually a bad thing.

Lansbury is a very talented young player but he does have a temper on him at times. However, like Ward, his awareness to create chances for other team mates is exceptional and he would have caused Blues a lot of problems on Tuesday night had he been fit to play.

ST: Clayton Donaldson.

The Birmingham City talisman is partial to a goal against Forest on their own turf, with many Blues fans remembering the double he got against them last season.

Since he has come back from injury, the former Brentford striker has looked sharper than ever and even though he hasn’t found the back of the net since the 5-2 away win at Fulham in November, I fancy him to score against Freedman’s men.

Donaldson is the driving force of Rowett’s side and I predict that he will have a good game on Tuesday night having been rested at the weekend.

Blues and Nottingham Forest fans, what do you make of this weeks five-a-side team? Do you think there could have been better players in the side? Let us know in the comment section down below!
