Five-a-side: Best of both! Brentford

Following back to back 1-0 wins at home, Gary Rowett’s men head into Saturday’s fixture against Brentford full of hope.

Earlier in the season Blues managed to walk away from Griffin Park with all three points in a highly impressive performance which saw Rowett’s men win 2-0.

Since that defeat, the Bees have somewhat turned their season around with a string of impressive results but like Blues they have also suffered from a dull patch.

The Bees currently sit in eighth, just one place above Blues and following a strong away performance at Reading on Monday, they will also feel that they can get something from the game at the weekend.

Having looked in depth at both teams, I have picked two Brentford players and three Birmingham City players to make up my five-a-side team for the week.

GK: David Button.

The 27 year old keeper has enjoyed a fairly good start to life with the Bees and I personally thought he was a better choice than Tomasz Kuszczak in net.

So far this season Button has kept five clean sheets and he has also picked up an assist. However, he has also picked up three yellow cards which suggests that should Blues hit the right space, Button could be prone to giving away cheap penalties.

DF: Paul Robinson.

Robbo returned to action on Monday against MK Dons and he looked like he was 27 rather than 37!

His passion and commitment when he is wearing the royal blue shirt is second to none and I just thought whenever Robinson has been in the team he has always done the club proud.

The last time Blues played against Brentford, Robinson was in the team and he kept a clean sheet for us and I am hopeful that he can do the same in Saturday’s game.

MF: Jacques Maghoma and Alan Judge.

After his fantastic performance on Monday against the Dons, I thought it was only right that I put him in this weeks side!

His trickery to create the opening to the goal on Monday was a piece of pure brilliance and I am hoping that he can produce more moments like that in more games.

Playing with someone other than Demarai Gray may have given him an extra boost and it was nice to see him take control of the wings.

Brentford’s Judge is a player who can cause any team problems on his day.

Throughout their two seasons in the Championship, Judge has been a mainstay and so far this term he has scored 10 goals and assisted seven making him one of the most influential players in the league.

Rowett will surely have highlighted him as one of the players that Blues need to be very aware of on Saturday and for that reason he needed to be in my team.

ST: Clayton Donaldson.

It was no surprise that the return of free flowing football at St.Andrews was accompanied by the return of Donaldson.

His hold up play and his ability to keep running up until the final minute means that he is very valuable to how Blues play.

Donaldson also has the understanding of how Blues play and he is very unselfish in front of goal and he is more than happy to help his other team mates score if they are in better positions.

Blues and Bees fans, do you agree with the five-a-side team that has been crafted this week? Would you make any changes to it? Let us know in the comment section down below!
