Mitch Hancox is looking for a new club after his exit from Birmingham City was confirmed today.

The 22 year-old defender was a product of Blues` youth academy and after making his first senior appearance in October 2012 in a 1-0 defeat against Huddersfield Town at St. Andrew`s, Hancox went on to make 40 appearances for the club he supported as a child.

Earlier this season, the Solihull-born left-back was loaned to Crawley Town where he made 16 appearances, scoring twice.

Hancox worked his way into the team regularly under Lee Clark`s stewardship and was part of the team to avoid relegation at Bolton Wanderers in May 2014. It was his cross that provided the first goal – scored by Nikola Zigic.

Since Gary Rowett took the reins, Hancox has struggled to force his way into the reckoning. His only first team appearance this term came in the League Cup tie against Gillingham in September.

Jonathan Grounds has been an ever present in the left back berth but some fans claim Hancox should have been given an opportunity. But despite the odd clanger, Grounds` performances have been fairly consistent and his fitness record has been impeccable making it even tougher for Hancox to force his way back in.

It is with a heavy heart that we wave goodbye for one of our own. Good luck and Keep Right On, Mitch.
