Vital Blues co-editor Rob Wildey speaks to Brentford fan Sophie Kinella.

SINCE WE LAST SPOKE, BRENTFORD HAVE WON TWICE, DRAWN TWICE AND LOST TWICE. DOES THAT INCONSISTENCY SUM UP YOUR SEASON?

Yes it does summarise it very well. We’re not a bad team but you get the impression that something is lacking. We are very good on our day and frustratingly poor on other days. Our season really could go either way.

HAS YOUR OPINION ON DEAN SMITH BETTERED OR WORSENED OVER TIME?

I’ve never wanted a manager to succeed as much as I do with Smith. He is a young, enthusiastic manager who likes us to play football. Problem is, sometimes he doesn’t have a plan B and some of his team selection can leave fans scratching their heads. I still think he’s learning and could still be the right man to take us forward.

BACK IN NOVEMBER, BIRMINGHAM WERE VERY LUCKY TO LEAVE GRIFFIN PARK WITH THE THREE POINTS. SINCE THEN, WE’VE CHANGED MANAGER. CARE TO GIVE US YOUR THOUGHTS ON THAT ONE?

Your win at our place sums up Gary Rowett. Scrappy, dreadful to watch, but got the job done. Yes you were very lucky but Rowett had a knack of taking points. It’ll be interesting to see what difference Zola has made to your style of play.

DO YOU SEE BIRMINGHAM AS GENUINE PLAY-OFF CONTENDERS?

This season, no. But if it’s any consolation, I don’t think Rowett would have led you into the top six either. Zola will, but not this season.

WHICH BIRMINGHAM PLAYER DO YOU SEE AS A MAIN THREAT?

Reading your match reports from Barnsley, Che Adams sounds like a handful. Didn’t he set up the first goal and win the penalty for the second?

WHICH BRENTFORD PLAYER SHOULD BIRMINGHAM BE WARY OF?

Sullay Kaikai who is on loan from Palace has been scoring a couple of goals recently. He’s a handful.

FINALLY, WHAT IS YOUR PREDICTION FOR THE GAME?

I’m going to say a score draw again. I said that last time so I’m going to sit on the fence again.

  • Also we was on curse for the top 6 under Rowett its Zola that is ruined that. he thinks he can make square pegs fit round holes. KRO

  • WayCoolBlue – we were not on course for the top six in any way shape of form. We lost silly games even then. And all this Rowett love has to stop. He refused to sign a new deal. End of.

  • We had 64% of the play last out and you haven’t seen that for a long time , we scored 2 goals away from home against a good side , which is good , we have had a lot of disappointment in recent years ..come on let’s throw the dummies away , we have been out played at times we need to move onward and upward , I personally like entertaining football all we need now is to keep scoring goals ..He Who dares …come on ….

  • If zola plays adams and jutkiewicz up front and gleeson and Davis midfield. Cottrol right and maghoma left. Then we stand a good chance. Got to hit them fast and hard tho. Keep right on.

  • WayCoolBlue- we were previously 3rd. That shows what a downward trajectory we were on. Ask yourself why he was sacked.

  • GR has gone. It is time to get behind the new manager. It wasn’t Zolas fault GR was sacked. Looking forward to seeing how Zola gets us to change our style to a more passing game. We need to sort out the defence though as our defending from set pieces is dreadful.

  • Rob Wildey1 he was sacked for no good reason we was not in a bad place we where holing our own. Now we have Zola we are in a bad place. Getting pummelled by crappy Brentford. I don’t have love for Rowett but I can see when a manager is doing a good job. Zola is doing a bad job its plane to see.
