Vital Blues co-editor Rob Wildey speaks to Brentford fan Sophie Kinella.

SINCE WE LAST SPOKE, BRENTFORD HAVE WON TWICE, DRAWN TWICE AND LOST TWICE. DOES THAT INCONSISTENCY SUM UP YOUR SEASON?

Yes it does summarise it very well. We’re not a bad team but you get the impression that something is lacking. We are very good on our day and frustratingly poor on other days. Our season really could go either way.

HAS YOUR OPINION ON DEAN SMITH BETTERED OR WORSENED OVER TIME?

I’ve never wanted a manager to succeed as much as I do with Smith. He is a young, enthusiastic manager who likes us to play football. Problem is, sometimes he doesn’t have a plan B and some of his team selection can leave fans scratching their heads. I still think he’s learning and could still be the right man to take us forward.

BACK IN NOVEMBER, BIRMINGHAM WERE VERY LUCKY TO LEAVE GRIFFIN PARK WITH THE THREE POINTS. SINCE THEN, WE’VE CHANGED MANAGER. CARE TO GIVE US YOUR THOUGHTS ON THAT ONE?

Your win at our place sums up Gary Rowett. Scrappy, dreadful to watch, but got the job done. Yes you were very lucky but Rowett had a knack of taking points. It’ll be interesting to see what difference Zola has made to your style of play.

DO YOU SEE BIRMINGHAM AS GENUINE PLAY-OFF CONTENDERS?

This season, no. But if it’s any consolation, I don’t think Rowett would have led you into the top six either. Zola will, but not this season.

WHICH BIRMINGHAM PLAYER DO YOU SEE AS A MAIN THREAT?

Reading your match reports from Barnsley, Che Adams sounds like a handful. Didn’t he set up the first goal and win the penalty for the second?

WHICH BRENTFORD PLAYER SHOULD BIRMINGHAM BE WARY OF?

Sullay Kaikai who is on loan from Palace has been scoring a couple of goals recently. He’s a handful.

FINALLY, WHAT IS YOUR PREDICTION FOR THE GAME?

I’m going to say a score draw again. I said that last time so I’m going to sit on the fence again.
