‘Fair point for both sides’ says McCarthy

Mick McCarthy was pleased with the way Wolves side came back to draw 1-1 with Birmingham on Saturday.

Sylvan Ebanks-Blake equalised 16 minutes before time to cancel out Cameron Jerome`s 48th minute opener.

And in the end the Wolves boss thought that a draw was a fair result.

“We got better as the game wore on after going 1-0 down to a very good side,” said McCarthy.

“We took the game to them deserved the equaliser and could have won it. I`m not saying we would have deserved it, but we had the chances in the last knockings of the game.”

“In the first half I thought it was fairly even – there were a lot of chances and perhaps they shaded it,” he added.

“I thought we started well but our passing wasn`t as crisp as the quality I would have liked.

“Their goal was a poor one for us to concede at the start of the second half and they had the better of it for 10 minutes or so. But we recovered quite quickly from that, and we started playing and ended up the stronger side and we were the more likely winners.

“Overall I thought it was a fair point for both sides.”
