Blues playmaker Diego Fabbrini is encountering stumbling blocks in his move to Serie B side Spezia Calcio.

The Italian spent some of last season on loan at Spezia – an agreed 1.5 million euros fee was written into the loan deal giving Spezia the option to make it permanent. However, Fabbrini is yet to agree personal terms with the club and it is understood that the salary on offer is some way short of his current salary at St. Andrews.

The 26-year-old made six appearances for Spezia who finished 8th in the Italian second tier. Having turned in some eye-catching displays, including one goal, Spezia have made signing Fabbrini a summer priority.

Other clubs are showing an interest in Fabbrini, including one Serie A club, so the player will not be short of options should his proposed move to Spezia fall through.
