‘Scarf lady` and passionate Birmingham City FC fan Carol Butcher got to lead her favourite team out when Blues secured a 3-0 victory against Ipswich at St. Andrew`s on Saturday.
Carol was nominated to receive an Eze Wish through shirt sponsor and principal partners, EZE Group.
Carol, who turned 70 on 14 January, is well-known far and wide amongst the Blues community for her love of the ‘Boys in Blue`, and her collection of BCFC scarves, which she wears around her neck and arms at every match – whatever the weather.
Carol, from Nechells, was nominated to win the Eze Wish by fellow friend and Bluenose Tracy Hemming for the incredible commitment she has shown Blues, having attended almost every game for the past 60 years.
As Eze Group`s latest Eze Wish winner, Carol got to lead her heroes out in front of an 18,000-plus crowd, and was later presented with a signed official 140th anniversary scarf to add to her collection.
“Carol had such an amazing day” Tracy said. “It was definitely a birthday present to remember.”
“Hearing the crowd chant her name was completely overwhelming. I find it hard to put it into words. I can`t thank Eze Group enough for treating Carol to this Eze Wish. She was made to feel like royalty on the day, and the fact that Blues won was just the icing on the cake.”
Eze Group`s Eze Wishes campaign is designed to recognise and reward those Blues fans who have overcome adversity, shown tremendous community spirit or demonstrated outstanding support for the club.
