When News filtered through that Pompey had gone behind against Sunderland it seemed to act as a reason to give up winning the game.

A draw and a Pompey defeat would have been a good position for Blues but Sunderland capitulated and Blues not only couldn’t find the net the appeared to forget that there was actually two of them at Goodison.

So intent on keeping out the opposition any thought of securing the three ponts disappeared. Any other time this would have been a good point for Blues and may yet well be the point that keeps Blues up.

As things stand the fate of Blues will not be decided until the last day at least not in the positive. Of course Blues could be down by next weekend but Wigan can be relied on to give Pompey a game and Liverpool on the last day will be six days from the FA Cup. Hopefully they will be still in the running for that second spot and need to give of their best.

Before the game Bruce’s usual injury surprise : no Tebily. How Blues manage to lose players between the end of training and kick off time, Kilkenny was injured too, is becoming a joke.

As for the game, well the half fit Pennant had a shot which should have found the net. Taylor made a couple of comfortable saves in the firss half and a great one in the second. Johnson got through three shirts and half a pint of blood for the cause.

I’m off to Bordeaux to rest before the next biggest game in Blues history since the last one.
