Rotherham boss Steve Evans is expecting a tough game against Birmingham after explaining that teams usually get 5 or 6 good results under a new manager.

‘They went to Molineux and got a 0-0 and then played Watford at home and beat them,’

‘Gary’s gone in there with his staff and – like any new manager – they go in and for five or six games they seem to get more than the average.

‘After six games or whatever it is, it goes back to where it was normally.

‘That’s what you normally see. Gary is a young man who everyone recognised had done a good job at Burton.’

Birmingham are on a good run under new boss Gary Rowett and it would seem that Steve Evans is attempting to play down the role the new manager has played in that.

By dismissing it as a new manager run of form, coming from the terrible form we were on is a bit of a stretch of the truth. There are managers, like the caretaker managers, who would have failed to get a reaction from a group that had just lost 8-0.

Birmingham take on Rotherham this weekend as the managers put the finishing touches to their pre match plan.

Both teams know that picking up points against the teams aroudn you plays a huge role in determining who goes down, and who remains in the Championship.
