Birmingham new-boy David Edgar is relishing the opportunity he has been given at Birmingham City under manager Lee Clark.

The 27 year old has described it as a fresh start in his career and he is eager to kick on as much as possible in royal blue; which is pleasing to hear he is so motived.

As many others have said, he is enjoying his time with the club and it would seem there is a squad here that is very together.

Edgar enjoys his midfield role more than his centre-back role but there is a slight hint in what he said that he does feel he’s better now in the defending role than he’s been before.

Edgar will more than likely feature today against Wigan away in the Sky bet Championship. Born in Ontario, the 6ft 2 defender was brought into the game via Newcastle United where he made 19 appearances before moving to Burnley.

David Edgar to the Birmingham Mail:

It`s like a fresh start for me here, a real chance to kick on with my career. That`s what I have been looking forward to.

The manager has given me an opportunity to play here and I have got to take that opportunity with both hands.

I am loving every minute of it. I have been welcomed with open arms and I am really enjoying playing my football with a good group and good management and back-room staff.

It`s a tough one because I like playing midfield as well , but I feel I have matured as a centre-half. I feel comfortable there but its where ever the manager wants me.’
