Irish goalkeeper Colin Doyle is set to make his first league appearance of the season away at Blackburn Rovers on Tuesaday after Darren Randolph’s suspension. It will be the 29 year old’s 62nd league game for the club in his 11 year spell so far at St.Andrew’s. The stopper has never let Blues down and fans will have many memories of his appearances in the royal blue, who could forgot the last minute save away at Wolves back in the 2006/07 season that nearly secured Blues promotion to the premiership.

Doyle has appeared twice this season for Birmingham in the League cup at home to Cambridge United and Sunderland and will need to be on his toes from the start against a Rovers side that are placed 13th in the league. Blackburn managed by Gary Bowyer have failed to win in four having drawn three and lost once and the Irish man will need to be protected if he is to keep a much needed clean sheet for Lee Clark’s men.

Aswell as Tuesday nights game, Birmingham City’s number one keeper Darren Randolph will also sit out fixtures against Bournemouth at home and Wolves away and his late sending off on Saturday is a bitter blow for Blues who are already struggling in the league.

Having conceded 19 goals in 12 games already during the 2014/15 Championship campaign Blues have the fifth worst defensive record and have struggled to keep shut outs this year. Doyle who is known as abit of a cult hero with Birmingham fans will need all the luck he can get as he comes up against a potent Blackburn strike force and Blues fans will once again need to be the 12th man when the two sides meet on Tuesday evening.
