Birmingham City goalkeeper Colin Doyle came in for special praise from boss Chris Hughton after helping secure a 2-0 win over Reading at the weekend.

Doyle brilliantly saved a penalty from Ian Harte in the game, but Doyle has also been in fine form since taking the place of injured Boaz Myhill.

Now Blues are just two games away from a game at Wembley which could see them return to the top flight after just one season.

‘I thought Doyle was super again,’ said Hughton.

‘He’s a big frame in that goal but you’ve also got to guess the right way. It was a big save because Ian Harte doesn’t miss too many penalties, it galvanised the crowd and it gave them a big lift which we felt.”
