Don’t let the performance fool you, there’s a hole in this side that needs fixing – Opinion

I was hoping that I wouldn’t have to write one of these again.

Things have been going so well so far that you couldn’t really draw a lot of attention to it. Out of sight, out of mind in a sense. However, I’m not going to pretend like it didn’t happen just because we played well, created a lot more chances than Derby County, and could have got something out of the game.

I stayed quiet after the goal we conceded against Stoke City, because I was so caught up in the Jude Bellingham talk that it sort of slipped to the back of my mind.

It will come as no surprise to some of you who are regulars to this board that I’m going to pick on Lee Camp for his efforts on Saturday, but in particular, I want to focus on Derby’s first goal. There are some times when you just have to wonder what on earth he was thinking when he does something like that, and that was a perfect example of one of those moments.

At the very least, not that I’m tooting my own horn here, I can say that I’ve not been a huge fan of Camp for a long time, so this isn’t just me making a knee-jerk reaction. However, after a display like that at the weekend, it’s probably the best time to start having the debate again.

I said last week that we need to start looking ahead to the January transfer window sooner rather than later, or at the very least take a look at the other options that we have at our disposal like Moha Ramos, or even giving David Stockdale another chance, especially after the fans showed they’re still willing to give him another look. And his ‘effort’ on Saturday for the first goal was just another example of why we need to look into the area and find someone who won’t end up costing us bundles of points as the season goes on.

What about you? Do you think that Lee Camp is on borrowed time? Or do you think that we need to cut him a little bit of slack?
