Clayton Donaldson says he is ready to play in the Championship after spending his whole career anywhere but the Championship.

Donaldson, now 30, has played in the Scottish league, the old division three, the conference and League two but he insisted all those years have matured him as a player and he is ready for the tough task ahead.

The Blues new-boy has also explained that he always gives 100% for the team and sets personal goals for himself, although he wouldn`t reveal what they were.

I have gone through all the leagues and matured as such. I feel like I am ready, it`s a good test for me and one I am looking forward to.”

It appears that Donaldson is eager to play in the Championship having been denied to opportunity for so long. A hard working striker motivated by a final battle cry at the end of a muted career could be a huge benefit to Birmingham should all these things come together is a goal scoring avenue.

Donaldson`s former employers were also quite disappointed at his leaving, despite this being put down to some ‘mixed signals`, it would seem Blues have a prospect up front.
