Do we Dare to Dream?

On paper, it was a game Blues should have won. On the grass, it`s a game Blues often lose. So, I`ll settle for a point – a point which moves Blues north of the play-off line.

Seventeen games remaining, Blues are in the play-off spots. If you would have predicted this scenario back in July, I`d have booked you in to see a Physiatrist as soon as I could find one willing to speak to someone so deluded.

When Sheffield Wednesday rock up at St. Andrew`s for Saturday`s six pointer, Blues will be gunning for their fourth clean sheet in succession. Not bad for a team with one natural centre half, eh?

Michael Morrison does what we expect him to do, but alongside him, Paul Robinson has been a revelation. At the age of 37, Robbo has found something extra. And if that disappears suddenly, I`d have no qualms with Jonathan Spector stepping in for his taste of soccer, sorry, I mean football.

Gary Rowett has taken a side of half-decent, average Championship players and transformed them into a more-than-decent team. Although there is still a long way to go, the sheer fact that we can even mention ‘Blues` in the same breath as ‘play-offs` is near miraculous.

I`ll be coming round with a bucket to collect donations which will go towards erecting the ‘Sir Gary Rowett` statue? it`d look fantastic towering over Bordesley Circus island.

It may or may not happen, but we can keep hoping and praying. Stranger things have happened in Football. And who knows? maybe we can give Witton Village a wave on the way past, and directions to Gillingham.
