Dimmy Gray – No Brainer for Leicester

So, as news broke that Dimmy Gray is in ‘advanced talks’ with Leicester City, thoughts were gathered and opinions were expressed. Do you want mine?…

As promising a player that Gray is, is he such a big loss? His contribution this season has been one goal and one assist, and while Blues have Jacques Maghoma in form, Viv Solomon-Otabor making his breakthrough and David Cotterill on the verge of a return from injury, Gray is not the be all and end all, as the statistics prove.

My only grievance is the fee, £3.75m. Granted, Gray is not a Premier League player, nor is he fully established in the Championship, but the price tag makes it a no lose situation for Leicester. If successful, Gray’s valuation would treble.

With the likelihood of Champions League money being ploughed into The King Power Stadium, that amount is an absolute snip. And the clause goes to prove, yet again, that contracts are not worth the paper they are written on.

Gray was left out of the squad for today’s win against Brentford while his move to the East Midlands awaits.

Blues will lose an unestablished but gifted player. Leicester will buy a player with bags of potential. It’s a no brainer.
