According to reports on HITC Sport online, Derby County defender Ryan Shotton is set to sign for Birmingham City after the Midlands club made an offer for his services.

It was reported last month by the Birmingham Mail that the club had made an initial enquiry as to the availability of Shotton and it now looks like he could become the second former loanee that is expected to return to St.Andrews over the next two weeks, with Robert Tesche also believed to be close to agreeing a deal with the club.

Should the improved offer be accepted by the Rams, Shotton could join up with the squad before the preseason training camp that is due to take place during the first week of July.

Blues boss Gary Rowett brought the former Stoke City defender into the club during the loan window last season and during his nine appearances for the club, Shotton made a big impression, especially whilst playing at centre back along side Michael Morrison and it is believed that the versatile player is very keen on a return to Birmingham.

HITC believe that a move could happen pretty quickly because sources close to club have confirmed to them that a move has been made past the formal enquiry.
