Kristian Pedersen made his debut against Norwich, and I think it’s fair to say that he split opinion. It was his first match so it is way too early to judge but from first impressions, he’s going to have to work on his positional play.

He got caught out one or two times, and although he showed some assured touches on the ball, and is definitely able to cope with the physical nature of the Championship, he will need to improve.

Fans on Twitter were pretty much of the same mind as me. While some felt he had an assured game, others though  he will need to improve defensively:

Some felt he grew into the game:

For his first competitive game in English football, there was is no need to be too harsh. He did get better as the game wore on, for the most part, so let’s see how he does against Middlesbrough.

Tony Pulis’ side will provide a tough defensive test, and it will be interesting to find out how the Dane copes.

  • How can you judge any player after one game ? I thought it was a decent debut good in the air puts in a good ball too it’s his first competitive game seriously

  • |Defensively suspect and big step up on Grounds. Both these are true. Sadly the first goal was Grounds like in its incompetence. Apart from that one incident I didn’t feel that every time the ball went down that right hand side that we were in trouble. I welcome all the new signings but am frustrated that we are still paying wages to players who we cannot use.

  • I must be missing something!! Everyone around me with an opinion were agreed that Pedersen was man of the match. When he took corners at the Tilton end he was cheered with rapturous applause, so seems the plaudits were pretty general. So disappointing to think that any Bluenose could be negative about him at this stage. Get real and get behind the boys!!

  • I felt that he was unaware of players making runs behind him so defensivley he got caught out a few times. He was good on the ball and in the air and his delivery was decent. Some promise but he is primarily a defender and hence he needs to work on this aspect of his game as he integrates into the team.

  • its a big step up but you can see he has the right attributes and will learn quickly. Good to see an alternative to Gardner with the dead ball. Thought his delivery was top drawer.

  • Techanically decent and a good crosser but got caught too many times being unaware of players coming down the right. Personally feel if Harding been on pitch both Norwich goals may have been prevented, much stronger defender

  • It was a mixed debut from him. His crossing was good and some of his defending was very good. He did get caught out a few times most notably for their first goal. However where was the covering defender. Trueman should’ve done better with that too. It’s a team game. If Kieftenbeld had stopped their cross and Morrison hadn’t fallen over they wouldn’t have scored their second and nobody would’ve been talking about the mistake leading to the first goal.
