Trialist Rostyn Griffiths played 45 minutes in Blues` 3-0 pre-season win at Nuneaton Town last night. The former Blackburn Rovers man impressed in the second half alongside David Davis in the central midfield berth.

Born in Stoke-on-Trent, the 27 year-old has spent six years of his career in Australia at various clubs including Central Coast Mariners and Perth Glory. In 2012, Griffiths had a two season stint at Chinese club Guangzhou R&F.

Blues manager Gary Rowett has been watching Griffiths closely as he looks to make a decision on the future of the free agent. His ball winning style and ability to break-up play are attributes Rowett is looking to bring into the squad during the transfer window.

Griffiths has represented Australia at U17 level. He qualified to play for the Socceroo`s after coming through the youth academy at ECU Joondalup. He then moved to Blackburn but didn`t make a senior appearance before eventually having loan spells at Gretna and Accrington Stanley.

In 2009 he returned to Adelaide United in the A-League before spells at North Queensland Fury, Central Coast Mariners, Chinese club Guangzhou R&F and then back down-under to Perth Glory.

Blues won the game with goals from Lee Novak, Andy Shinnie and the aforementioned Davis. Rowett`s men travel to Kidderminster Harriers on Saturday for a 12.30pm kick off.
