Clayton Donaldson has left Birmingham City to join Sheffield United on a permanant deal.

The 33-year-old arrived at St. Andrew’s under Lee Clark in 2014 and enjoyed a productive first season, finishing top scorer with 15 league goals.

He went on to score 17 more times in the next two campaigns and amassed over 100 games for the club.

All the best, Clayts – you served us extremely well in tough times.

  • Clayton Donaldson has served us so well in times where we have had nothing to spend. He has worked his socks off time and time again for the cause, often a loan striker holding the ball to bring others into play,we all know he is ageing now and prone to injury but will be remembered well with the fans. Thanks Clayton for all you have done and good luck with the rest of your career.

  • The time was right to offload him. Hard working but injury prone and lost the killer touch in front of goal. May act as the perfect foil for a goal poacher like Billy Sharp. Good luck to him.

  • Yes,I agree the time had come for a parting yet we must remember all that he did for us,especially in his first two seasons when we didn’t have a penny to spend,he was exactly what we needed, jumped a division to play Championship football and in part assisted us to keep our status.I will always remember Donaldson for the right reasons, never one to moan when left out of the side and always willing to put his body on the line for the cause.A great character, thank you Clayton.
