Birmingham City have signed Everton midfielder Liam Walsh on loan until January.

A deal for the 19-year-old was struck just in time for the transfer deadline, after Blues were unable to agree terms with Alex Song.

Walsh is described as a player that is comfortable on the ball, has a great range of passing and is dangerous from set-pieces – Everton fans rate him very highly.

He is yet to make a first team appearance for the Premier League side, but does have Football League experience.

The youngster spent time on loan at Yeovil Town, where he made 17 appearances and scored once.

Welcome to Blues, Liam!

  • Not at all like Song and maybe this is why we only have him until January when we can go again to try and get the type of player we have been after three times now and missed out every time. I bet Harry isn’t happy abut this.

  • Liam Walsh is a welcome addition, just a pity it’s only a loan until January however I guess there is a fair chance that may be extended for the whole season. He’s young, will be hungry to impress and get valuable first team experience. With the quantity of additions to the squad no player is guaranteed a starting spot, that’s exactly what any manager wants. If a player can guarantee his place on the starting eleven every week wither he is brilliant or the team has no competition for places.Thankfully finally we have that all over the park.
    Welcome Liam.
