Birmingham City have completed the Deadline Day signing of Brentford winger Jota.

The 26-year-old has signed a four-year deal at St. Andrew`s, with the fee said to be in the region of £6m that could rise to £8m – a club-record fee.

Jota, a proven creative winger at Championship level, becomes the second player to join from the Bees after Harlee Dean arrived yesterday.

The Spaniard enjoyed an extremely productive second half of last season where he scored 12 times in just 21 appearances, after he returned to Brentford following a loan spell with Eibar.

Blues have beaten off competition from the likes of West Ham, Fulham and Middlesbrough to secure the services of Jota.

Welcome to Blues, Jota!

  • An impressive signing, very very welcome too,he is exactly the sort we have been crying out for and now, finally, all thoughts and speculation that the manager was not being fully backed by the owners can be put aside,he clearly has been backed, money has been spent both on transfers and serious money on wages.
Welcome to St Andrews,we could now be in for one hell of a season.

  • Whoever has backed Harry today should take a bow.Jota,Dean and Colin all gel together well which is an added bonus. It is hard now to figure out what will be our best starting line up.Also whether Davis and others will be here tomorrow.
